Bill Callegari
State Representative William A. (Bill) Callegari, Sr. was elected to the Texas State Legislature in 2000. He represents the 132nd District in Houston and is currently serving his fifth term in the Texas House.
Most remarkable in assessing his first two terms in the House was his record of having almost 100% of his legislation passed either as separate bills or being incorporated into other enabling legislation.
A native of Cottonport, Louisiana, Bill received a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Louisiana State University. He holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston and has been a Licensed Professional Engineer for almost 40 years. In 1999, he was named to the LSU Alumni Hall of Distinction and the W.A. Callegari Environmental Center was established on the LSU campus and dedicated in his honor.
Community involvement plays an important role in his life and career. A resident of Katy, Texas, he served as Trustee of the Katy Independent School District in the mid-1980s, as a director of the Katy Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as a member of his church finance council. He and his wife Ann have been married for more than 40 years and have four children and ten grandchildren.

HB 979 - Pledge with Texans Bill
This bill applies the appraisal cap to all real property, providing taxpayer protection for businesses that are currently exposed to uncapped appraisal increases. House Bill 979 will allow businesses to create jobs and grow the economy.

HB 3237 - Pledge with Texans Bill
Limiting business taxes will allow the private sector to direct more capital to payrolls, rather than tax payments. House Bill 3237 limits taxes on small businesses and contract laborers, which will help the private sector to grow the economy and create jobs.

Bill Callegari
Representative Bill Callegari co-authored and passed HB 469. The bill created incentives for the implementation of certain "clean energy projects" which capture and sequester carbon dioxide that would otherwise be emitted into the atmosphere. HB 469 took effect September 1, 2009.
