Bryan Hughes

State Representative Bryan Hughes was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in November 2002, to represent District 5, consisting of Camp, Harrison, Upshur and Wood Counties.  A fifth generation Texan, Bryan was raised in Wood County, graduating from Mineola High School in 1987. After working his way through Tyler Junior College and the University of Texas at Tyler, Bryan was accepted to the Baylor University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1995. Following Law School, Bryan was chosen by United States District Judge William M. Steger of Tyler to serve as his briefing attorney. He now practices law in his hometown of Mineola, where he continues to represent working families and small businesses.

Bryan Hughes has gained a reputation as a hard working legislator who is committed to understanding the issues and voting true to his district. Representative Hughes is a principle-driven legislator who believes Texas has a strong and proud heritage of faith, family, and freedom. He works with his fellow legislators to preserve and encourage these values and ensure that future generations of Texans have even greater opportunities than those of us who have gone before them.

HB 832 - Pledge with Texans Bill

By allowing businesses to deduct from the taxable margin compensation to independent contractors HB 832 alleviates some of the tax burden carried by businesses and allows them to reinvest that money on our economy and job creation.
