Many studies show voter fraud occurs all over America.  The most common cases include votes cast by the deceased and non-citizens. HB 208 requires the Secretary of State to remove deceased and ineligible voters from voter roles to ensure only legal Texas citizens vote.

State and federal mandates on schools require excessive administrative time and labor, energy that could be used furthering the education of Texas students. HB 1192 creates a pilot program to exempt high performing school districts from state mandates.

The franchise tax creates a burden on businesses.  While we fight to keep them down, HJR 30 proposes a constitutional amendment requiring any increase in a rate of the franchise tax be approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house of the legislature.

The bureaucracy of the property tax too often serves governments at taxpayers' expense.  House Bill 2290 gives taxpayers a strong voice in property tax administration by allowing voters to elect appraisal district directors.

A strong right to own private property is at the root of a free society.  House Bill 4 enacts protections for landowners to safeguard against eminent domain abuse by government.  The bill also gives greater recourse for landowners who face eminent domain proceedings.

Texas needs more highways and roads to move people and goods efficiently around the state.  House Bill 644 ends diversions from the State Highway Fund to re-dedicate gas tax revenues to road construction and maintenance.

This bill applies the appraisal cap to all real property, providing taxpayer protection for businesses that are currently exposed to uncapped appraisal increases.  House Bill 979 will allow businesses to create jobs and grow the economy.

Sanctuary cities which turn a blind eye to illegal immigrants serve to exacerbate the problems of illegal immigration.  House Bill 404 revokes state funds from local governments that adopt a policy under which they refuse to enforce immigration laws.

The government should reduce tax burdens on businesses so that they can grow the economy and create jobs.  House Bill 720 limits the margins tax on small businesses by raising the small business exemption to $1 million.
